Music Therapy Methods

In a music therapy session, a client might engage in:

  • Free improvisation

  • Singing

  • Drumming

  • Instrument playing

  • Instrument exploration

  • Movement to music

  • Song-writing and composition

  • Lyric analysis

  • Group and individual activities

  • Receptive listening for stress or pain relief (Progressive Muscle Relaxation/Imagery and Music)
